Sustainable Summer School  19 - 25 August 2011

A short course, that aimed to provide participants with new insights via an intensive curriculum in the field of sustainability and design. The programme had an interdisciplinary design approach.

The IwB faculty joined forces with Euregional lecturers to accompany the participants. The participants were divided in teams working on the three case studies. Each team was facilitated by IwB and Euregional faculty.

Day 1

The Sustainable Summer School started Friday 19/08 at 10AM.
Introduction day with lectures on the Worldhouse Matrix, Systems Theory, Integrated Design Practice and Design Research techniques as well as introductions to the three different project areas and team selections.

Day 2 - 3 

Research days: teams visited the site cities, conducted interviews with pertinent experts and participated in community engagement such as adventure research, flied ethnography, on-the-street interviews with residents or other stakeholders.

Day 4 - 5 - 6 

Working days with different research techniques and methods including guestlectures by international experts: breakfastmeetings, lunch seminars and evening talks with expert advisors.

Day 7 

Morning working time, afternoon presentations of the concepts and projects were juried by guest advisors & faculty, followed by a closing event reception (BBQ, party, cake & champagne). The Sustainable Summer School ended on 25/08 at 7.30PM.
