Sustainability at School 2009-2010

REcentre propeled a variety of projects in collaboration with teachers and design students from St. Luc Liège - ABK Maastricht - Gut Rosenberg Aachen - Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg Dpt. Arts & Architecture - KHLim Media & Design Academie.
For the 2009-2010 edition of Sustainability at School, the participating design schools had collaborated on 3 different themes:

Eco Packaging Seminar

Lower your transporting costs by using sustainable packaging. This semina covered the following topics: green packaging; branding through packaging; cost optimisation and eco conception, cardboard in our environment.

This event was organised with SPI+.

Design Competition water carafe

06.01.10 - 01.03.10

Six Euregional designers were assigned to design a sustainable water carafe. REcentre selected the experienced designers, brought in extra expertise on sustainable design and on water.
On the 10th of June 2010 a jury of professionals and experts judged the closed design competition.

drinKraantjeswater

22.03.10 - 22.03.11

drinKraantjeswater (drinkTapwater), a campaign by Limburg.net, the province of Limburg, the Intercommunale Watermaatschappij (IWM), the Vlaamse Maatschappij voor Watervoorziening, and Bond Beter Leefmilieu wants to stimulate the inhabitants and government of Belgian Limburg to drink tap water instead of bottled water. A sustainable principle REcentre fully supports.

Milk the Green Cow

Milk the Green Cow was a three day conference programme offering companies, designers, organizations the opportunity to hear the viewpoint of renown (international) experts on several sustainability issues and to learn how to think sustainable.

lab'eau drinKraantjeswater

On the 7th of April 2010 six designers were selected for a first round of lab'eau: Jan Hoekstra, Frans Hegge, Gorissen & Deponti, Linde Hermans, Jean-François D'or and François Royen.
Apart from designing a sustainable water carafe, they also participated in a workshop, led by Thomas Lommee, to find other sustainable concepts that facilitate and promote the consumption of tap water.

Euregional schools tour with Luigi Ferrara

As Luigi Ferrara, director of the Institute without Boundaries, puts it: “Our aim is to produce graduates who, in the words of Buckminster Fuller, are ‘a synthesis of artist, inventor, mechanic, objective economist, and evolutionary strategist.’ To do so, we need to eliminate boundaries between design and other professions, and between designers and the local and global constituents they serve.

Sustainability at School 2010-2011

REcentre repeated the school projects around new, relevant, and sustainable themes.
In order to generate more economic and market feasible results, the projects were about real questions from real companies. 

In collaboration with external organizations, REcentre wanted to expand the themes, the focus remaining on sustainable challenges relevant to the region.

Exhibition Sustainability at School on Design Nature

In the main exhibition hall of Design Nature (Eglise St-Antoine), REcentre presented those student projects that best answer the assigned criteria of sustainability, economical potential and creativity.
